Activities

In the New Space domain, Factual coordinates various European projects, both within the framework of the Horizon Europe and EIT Urban Mobility programmes, among others. In these projects, Factual promotes the knowledge and adoption of satellite navigation technologies and services associated with Galileo, EGNOS, and Copernicus applied to both urban and interurban mobility.

In a broader sense, Factual develops numerous European projects related to mobility, specialising in the convergence of technology, new business models, the competitive and regulatory framework, and the interpretation of emerging trends affecting the mobility sector. Recently, Factual has coordinated the Horizon 2020 projects “ARIADNA” and “MOLIERE,” and is currently the coordinator of the Horizon Europe project “JULIA,” all co-funded by EUSPA.

In the Cybersecurity domain, Factual has authored the “White Paper on Cybersecurity and Smart Mobility in Catalonia” for the Catalonia Cybersecurity Agency.

The document aims to address vulnerabilities and attack vectors that various entities involved in the smart mobility ecosystem may face. It provides an international analysis of known attack cases and offers information and recommendations on R&D funding in this field, along with other initiatives to enhance the resilience of transport and mobility systems, advancing the sector and business opportunities.

In the Blockchain domain, Factual has led various initiatives to promote the convergence and use of DLT technologies in the field of mobility. This includes co-creation workshops for use cases involving the participation of various public and private entities, and the coordination of the European project “MOLIERE,” which developed a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform governed by blockchain. Factual provides strategic consulting and expert technological advice to public and private entities interested in assessing the viability of blockchain in the field of mobility. In the AI domain, Factual has collaborated in the “White Paper on Artificial Intelligence Applied to Mobility” (CIDAI). Additionally, Factual develops new technology-based mobility products and services, such as LanePatrol, a pioneering system for capturing and encoding images of cycling infrastructure that applies the international CycleRAP standard. Its goal is to detect improvements in road safety, utilizing AI algorithms for the automatic detection of certain attributes related to bike lanes.
